Checklist before applying to exchange studies

Find out what steps you need to take before applying for exchange studies.

  1. Contact your international contact person or your study counsellor.
    - Find out when you can go on an exchange within your programme.

  2. Check on our website and with your international contact person what opportunities are available to you.
    - You can choose to go on exchange via your department, faculty or university-wide agreement.
    - Note that application deadlines may differ.

  3. Check the eligibility requirements for the application round.
    - Note that the eligibility requirements may differ depending on the exchange location you are applying for. Information on eligibility requirements and how to apply

  4. Select the university or universities you wish to apply to.
    - You can find all universities in Solemove.

  5. Check the course catalogue for the selected universities.
    - Read about the university you want to go to so you know that there are courses you want to and can take. Often there is information in Solemove about which courses exchange students can study. 
    - Are courses offered in your subject?
    - Are there any restrictions on courses at the chosen university?
    - Will the courses be transferable to your degree in Umeå?

  6. Contact your international contact person or study counsellor
    - Present your proposed course choices and get them approved.

  7. Apply in Solemove!
