Technical requirements for online courses

What technical requirements you need to ensure you can meet before you start an online course with the Department of Language Studies.

To participate in our online courses, you must have a computer with internet access. Further requirements may vary depending on the course, but a recommended minimum setup is a PC running Windows 10 or later; or a Mac with OS X version 10.15 or later. The requirement for type of internet connection can vary from course to course, but a broadband connection is recommended.

Recommended web browsers include the latest versions of Google Chrome or Firefox. Java and cookies must be enabled in the web browser. A headset is required for some courses (alternatively: a separate microphone and headphones). If this is needed for the course you have applied to, it will specified in the welcome letter you will receive once you have been admitted to the course, along with any other deviations from the minimum requirements listed above.
