Awareness of terrorism

The likelihood that an individual, such as yourself, will be caught up in a terrorist attack is very low, but the consequences could be very serious. For that reason, it is important that you are prepared.

Terrorist attacks, directed at and affecting the public, have been carried out in Sweden as well as in the world around us. The likelihood that an individual, such as yourself, will be caught up in a terrorist attack is very low, but the consequences could be very serious. For that reason, it is important that you are prepared.

In the event of a terrorist attack

If you are the victim of a terrorist attack or other armed aggression, act immediately: Run – Hide – Tell.

Run

Get yourself to safety. Leave the scene as quickly and safely as possible and avoid crowds.

Hide

If you are unable to leave the area, find a place that you consider safe and that offers you protection. Pay attention to what you see and hear and try to stay calm. Put your mobile phone on silent mode and switch off vibration. Do not call anyone who may be in danger. You might reveal their hiding place.

Tell

Alert the police via 112. The police needs to know the location, what has happened, the number of perpetrators, which weapons they used, their description, and where you last saw them. Warn those in danger and help those in need.

Complete an online training

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) and the Police have developed an online training to increase knowledge on how to ensure one's safety and how to help others in a dangerous situation such as a terrorist attack. The training takes 15-30 minutes to complete.
