I am a postdoc researcher in Ronnie Berntsson’s group. I am an enthusiastic bacteriologist, particularly interested in antibiotic resistance/tolerance and pathogenesis.
My Ph.D. thesis in the past focused on the study of the gene regulation and protein-protein interactions of the type III secretion system of enterohaemorrhagic E. coli. In my Ph.D. I was trained for molecular biology and biochemical methologies and perspectives, and I became well-trained for manipulating bacterial genetics and basic protein purification.
By joining Ronnie Berntsson lab as a postdoc, I learn how to study with a perspective and tools of structural biology as well. I work with HPLC protein purification and study protein structure with crystallography and single particle cryo electronmicroscope (cryo EM). My recent project is dedicated for the structure and function characterization of a cell wall hydrolase encoded by the type 4 secretion system of Enterococcus faecalis.
Besides bench-top work, I have also been active in the Umeå Postdoc Society as a treasurer and events organizer.
