I work as a professor in psychology and conduct research and teach in health psychology, medical psychology, psychosomatics and research methodology.
I work as a professor in psychology at the Department of Psychology at Umeå University where I conduct research, teach and supervise graduate and undergraduate students. My background is in neuropsychology and sensory psychology, and my expertise is in the fields of health psychology, medical psychology and psychsomatics from a public health perspective. The research is conducted primarily with epidemiological and laboratory methods, and to some extent also with qualitative methods. My teaching regards for the most part health psychology and research methodology.
At present I conduct research in the fields:
• Environmental hypersensitivities
• Mental and somatic ill-health
• Human olfaction
I completed my PhD studies in psychology at Stockholm University in 1992, and have also been working with research at the Karolinska Institute, the University of California, San Diego and San Diego State University. I am a member of the investigation group for issues of suspicion of deviation from good research practice, Umeå University, and have been member of the Swedish Research Council's evaluation group for psychology, scientific member of the Swedish Ethical Review Authority, vice chairman for the Swedish National Committee for Psychology, and a member of the Board of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Umeå University.
