I am working as an Assistant Professor in Sexual and Reproductive Health, Department of Nursing, UMU, combined with a clinical position as a midwife at the Center of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Region of Västerbotten. My research is mainly about midwifery continuity of care models (Caseload midwifery), where women have a “known” midwife or a small team of midwives during pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum.
I have worked clinically as a midwife since 2006, mainly in the labour ward and within postnatal care. In October 2019, I finilised my doctoral thesis at the Department of Clinical Science, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Umeå University, on midwives' and obstetricians' experience of obstetric ultrasound in Rwanda and Vietnam. During my time as a PhD student, we went to Rwanda, Vietnam and Norway for data collection and I also went on two occasions to La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia for research visits.
After my dissertation, I have worked as a research assistant within the GYNOS project (GYnecologic cohort NOrthern Sweden), as a process manager for gynecological cancer, RCC North, and as a research midwife in the RoMaNs project (Restoration of Microbiota in Newborns). Between 2021 and 2023, I worked as a postdoctor and spent one year at the Judith Lumley Centre, La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, working on the MAGNOLIA midwifery caseload care project.
