My research interests are centered on development of novel artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, and software architectures, with a focus on agricultural and forestry robotics. I am part of the Intelligent Robotics group at the Department of Computing Science.

Particularly, within this field my interests and expertise focus on three major research directions:

1. Autonomous and semi-autonomous mobile robot navigation and path planning for outdoor and unconstrained environments
In this research direction I explore both the advantages of fully autonomous systems as well as human robot collaboration paradigms, e.g. [1, 2].

2. Design, development and implementation of industrial manipulator path planning algorithms based on novel 3D localization methods
Examples of implementation of these algorithms can be found in the two EU projects Sweeper and CROPS where we were developing autonomous robots for harvesting fruits, such as sweet peppers [3].

3. Development of perception algorithms for the extraction of semantic information from innovative sensory data
This includes both computer vision algorithms in complex environments, as well as processing of non-visual sensors data (e.g., laser scanners, GPS, etc.) [4, 5, 6].
