Martin Cohn obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Copenhagen, Danish Cancer Society. He then undertook postdoctoral training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School in the US. Following this he took up a position as a Group Leader in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford in the UK. Here he held various grants and fellowships, including a University Research Fellowship from the Royal Society and a Senior Research Fellowship in Basic Biomedical Science from the Wellcome Trust. Most recently he took up a Group Leader position in the Department of Molecular Biology at Umeå University.
Research in Martin Cohn’s laboratory is focused on understanding how chromosomes in humans are protected against unfavorable changes, which if left unattended can cause deadly diseases such as cancer.
