I am Docent in Nursing and Registered Nurse and specialized in Child and Adolescent healthcare as well as Psychiatric Nursing.
Hi, my name is Maria Forsner, I am a senior lecturer and docent in Nursing.
As a nurse, I have previously been active in many different areas (medicine, infection, psychiatry, etc.) and most recently in pediatric care. I was employed at the pediatic ward with special responsibility for helping children and young people to overcome fear related to healthcare procedures using "Guided Imagery".
I am teaching in nursing at the undergraduate and advanced level.
My research is mainly focused on health and nursing with a focus on children and young people. I have been particularly interested in how children and young people experience healthcare procedures such as "injections" and how we can make it easier for them and reduce pain, fear and discomfort.
Right now I am involved in two research projects concerning how children in different countries understand and adapt to information about the Corona pandemic and COVID19. And how children and young people feel during the pandemic.
I defended my dissertation in 2006 with the thesis "To be a child in illness and in health care" and became a Docent in 2015.
I have previously been employed at Dalarna University and also have an affiliation at KI, Department of BioSciences and Nutrition.
I am teaching in the nursing programs in undergraduate education to become a registered nurse and specialist nursing education.
I am responsible for the following courses:
I also supervise bachelor's and master's theses and am part of the Grading Committee for theses at the undergraduate level.
