My current project is focused on studying the host reponse to infection by a special type of bacterial toxins which induce cellular DNA damage. To achieve this, I use mouse models and study the immune response triggered by a Salmonella-produced toxin, the typhoid toxin. I also aim at understanding how the normal functioning of the infected tissues is kept and, more generally, the mechanisms governing health versus infection.

I joined as a postdoctoral researcher in 2019 in professor Teresa Frisan's group after completing my Ph.D. in Denmark, where I studied the interplay between diet and gut microbiota in colon cancer prevention.
