I am an Associate Professor of Design at Umeå Institute of Design and a Digital Futures postdoctoral fellow at Stockholm University. My research centers on situations where technology is often considered out of place, such as intimate settings of care or outdoor environments. This focus is motivated by digital materials becoming more dispersed and entangled with nondigital matter, such on bodies or local ecologies. I am interested in questions regarding what interaction designers might materially turn their attention to as shapeable and expressive, and how to responsibly shape indistinguishable agencies and dynamic sensations of and beyond human experience.
I have a BS in Architecture from the University of Virginia, a MFA in Interaction Design from Umeå Institute of Design, and a PhD in Interaction Design from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Prior to my PhD, I was an interaction and service designer in London for a technology company specializing in enterprise internet of things.
