Josephine Solowiej-Wedderburn

Josephine obtained her PhD in mechanobiology, working under the supervision of Carina Dunlop at the University of Surrey. Here, she used biophysical models for cellular contractility to gain insights into cellular mechanosensation, focussing on the role of cell-substrate adhesion patterns. She followed her PhD with a 12-month postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Surrey to couple cell cytoskeletal models to the cell nucleus.

Now a postdoc at IceLab and the Department of Mathematics in Umeå, Josephine's predicting the co-evolutionary trajectories of simple microbial communities, furthering her interest in the environmental influence on the basic building blocks of life.
