My research focuses on human sensorimotor control during sports-relevant situations, mainly among persons with a history of anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Research
I am the principal investigator for a research project that evaluates how an anterior cruciate ligament injury affects the individual's ability to handle sport-relevant situations with elements of simultaneous cognitive tasks, also called "dual-tasking". Such data are interesting as they reflect the demands found in real life. My research focuses mainly on jumping tests and cognitive-motor interference, i.e., the impairment in performance that occurs when individuals perform a motor task with concurrent cognitive tasks relative to performing the tasks separately. In addition to various performances, we investigate how movement control is affected by dual-tasking using a high-tech movement analysis system to understand the injury situation better. We mainly apply statistical methods within the functional data analysis framework to analyse movement data. My research includes sports science, physiotherapy, biomechanics, statistics and neurocognition.
