I study sustainable land use with a focus on reindeer husbandry and conflicts with other land users. I am also responsible for the research leadership program, ReaL, at Umeå University.
I study sustainable land use, especially in northern Sweden. I have focused primarily on reindeer husbandry and forestry, but also touch upon windpower, mining, and protected areas. I am especially interested in conflict between different land users.
My interest in sustainability has led me to engage in Umeå Transformation Research Initiative (UTRI), which is a researcher network for questions that involves a transformation to a sustainable society. I have also developed a course for university teachers that is called "Education for sustainable development".
My experiences both as Head of department and as a research leader has made me very interested in leadership issues. I am, together with Anna-Lill Drugge, responsible for the research leadership programme at Umeå University (ReaL).
