Assistant lecturer in comparative literature and creative writing.
My research is on ecocritical, ecofeminist, and environmental perspectives within comparative literature. I am interested in how comparative literature – a discipline with literary texts, i.e. fiction and poetry, at its core – can work with an use new theoretical frameworks centering on materiality, corporeality and environmentalism.
My dissertation, "Material Turns", is a reading of four 20th century writers, namely Henry Parland (Finland), Clarice Lispector (Brazil), Aase Berg (Sweden) and Eva-Stina Byggmästar (Finland) with an emphasis on how their text negotiate subjectivity, materiality, the subject-object divide, the environment, and nature.
I teach literary history, literary criticism, advanced level courses in literary history and poetics and supervise undergraduates.
