Associate Professor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Head of the academic discipline Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Lecturer in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
I am head of the academic discipline Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) at the Department of Clinical Sciences. I am teaching Child and Adolescent psychiatry to doctoral students and first cycle students and also to students in the speech-landuage pathology programme. My main subjects are trauma, anxiety and depression, cognitive behavior therapy and affect theory.
I do part time clinical work in trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy (TF-CBT) and supervise in TF-CBT and CBT at the Child and Adolescent Clinic (CAP).
My main research focus is the development and adaption of an mHealth app for trauma treatment. We are about to develop a blended trauma treatment using an app, videoconference and live sessions.
We have also developed a compassion focused therapy, an online group intervention aimed at adolescents with stress conditions. The treatment is seven sessions once a week in videoconferencing format.
New adolescent self-report questionnaires for mental health have been developed. Both modern and classic test methods have been used to calculate psychometrics.
Another research project includes sexual harassment or abuse online and offline. A special focus on genus has been applied in this research.
I have a special interest in issues relating to discrimination and power. The book Power and Psychotherapy was written in 2017. I have also conducted research in the treatment of eating disorders with a special focus on the different roles of the parents.
After completing my psychology degree in 2003 I worked as a clinician with adult psychiatric outpatients for three years. I joined the Department of Psychology at Umeå University in 2005 and in 2011 I spent a year as guest researcher at the Center for Psychotherapy Research at University of Pennsylvania, US. The title of my thesis (2012) is ”Learning psychotherapy: An effectiveness study of clients and therapists”. In 2016 I received the title “Excellent teacher” at the Department of Psychology at Umeå University and in 2017 I gained a research position at CAP at Umeå University Hospital, Region Västerbotten.
I am teaching Child and Adolescent psychiatry to doctoral students and first cycle students and also to students in the speech-landuage pathology programme.
