My research focus on gene therapy in particular the use of viral vectors as vaccines and oncolytic agents.
My research has focussed on adenovirus, human papilloma virus (HPV), rotavirus, the pumalavirus causing the nefropathia epidemica disease of our region, and HIV. Umeå has a unique maternity cohort that has been exploited in extensive epidemiological studies.
My interest is now focussed on gene therapy in particular the use of viral vectors as vaccines and oncolytic agents.

Commissions of trust: Chairman of the Adenovirus Study Group of the International Commitee for the Taxonomy of viruses( ICTV) 1980 to 1988 and member of this SG since then; Chairman of the searchgroup for the new swedish medical research council (MRC) 1994; Vice dean of the medical faculty at Umeå University 1997 to 1999.
