Professor of Church History at the Faculty of Arts and Professor of History and Education at Umeå School of Education.
Daniel Lindmark is Professor of Church History and History and Education. He works primarily with research and third-cycle education. His research interests include popular education, popular reading, religious use of history, colonial encounters, historical justice, and popular revival movements. In 1995 he earned his PhD in History from Umeå University, and in 2022 he received an honorary doctorate of Theology from Åbo Akademi University, Finland. He is a working member of the Royal Skyttean Society and the Royal Gustavus Adolphus Academy for Swedish Folk Culture. In 2022 he was awarded the Várdduo scientific prize for Sami research, and in 2025 he received the History of Education Society (UK)’s Presidents’ Award for Distinguished Contribution to the History of Education.
