My research is interdisciplinary and a main focus is language and culture in northern Sweden. For example, I have studied dialectal proverbs that illumminates an older agrarian society in northern Sweden, contemporary language policy perspectives on place-names in multilingual areas as well as written narratives of the settler colonization in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Since the autumn semester 2017, I am head of department at the Department of Language Studies. This is a full-time assignment and my current term expires after the spring semester 2025.
