The AI Policy Lab at Umeå University is committed to advancing research and developing actionable policy insights to support the ethical and responsible governance of AI. We collaborate with key stakeholders in academia, industry, and government to tackle pressing challenges in AI policy, ethics, and regulation. Our mission is to foster a fair and sustainable approach to AI development that aligns with societal values and promotes equitable outcomes across sectors. 

The AI Policy Lab is hosted at the Department of Computing Science, which is characterized by world-leading research in a multitude of scientific fields and is ranked highly in international comparisons. Main duties 

We are looking for a project coordinator who will work with operational management support. The duties include leading the work together with the director of the AI Policy Lab through budget management, EU research funding project management, scientific community and internship project management with administrative support, and process maintenance. The latter includes designing and implementing calls for projects as well. The employment is for 50%. You will also assist the AI Policy Lab in planning and implementing events (summit conference, workshops, and meetings in the research network) as well as with communication. 

As a project coordinator, you will interact and collaborate with a wide range of individuals, active in research, industry, university management and international actors. You will collaborate with researchers, professors, project coordinator, and administrator. 

Duties may change over time. 

Qualifications  

  • Has several years of experience in project management. 
  • Master's degree relevant to this position 
  • Good ability to understand innovative scientific collaboration ideas at a strategic level and propose possible action plans, support it through to realization 
  • Has experience in policy and/or compliance related area 
  • Has experience in coordinating scientific collaborative projects or education programs 
  • Used to write reports and documentation 
  • Has good experience in organizing physical and online events 
  • Fluency in English both orally and in writing 
  • Good ability to collaborate  

 

Meritorious qualifications are:  

  • Be able to propose innovative ideas for structuring and managing projects 
  • Good ability to express oneself orally and in writing in Swedish and another EU language 
  • Has knowledge of the university's function as a public institution  
  • Knowledge within the field of AI 

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability. You want to be involved in developing a culture based on trust, security and credibility in a growing business. As a person, you are structured, proactive and results oriented, and reliable to effectively prioritize and complete tasks. You have a good ability to build networks and create trust as cooperation with both colleagues and external parties is of great importance. To thrive in this role, you need to be flexible, adapt easily and see opportunities in changes. It is also important that you can handle complex tasks independently in collaboration with others and that you are clear in your communication.
