The Department of Molecular Biology, affiliated with both the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science and Technology. This constellation boasts a comprehensive range of cutting-edge facilities, including advanced imaging, metabolomics, genomics, and screening technologies. At the department, you will be part of dynamic research environment with a strong international profile in genetics, microbiology, immunology, cell biology, tumour biology, neurobiology, and animal physiology research.
The department are now looking for a laboratory engineer for a 50% part-time temporary position for 9 months with start 1 April, 2025 or as agreed.
Working tasks
The majority of your working hours will be devoted to routine services within the framework of the department's support functions. For instance, this entails being in charge of making high-quality solutions, fruit fly culture media for some of our research groups. Over time, tasks may change.
Qualifications
A university degree in biology, environmental science, or another subject that is considered equivalent. The job demands significant precision, and you should possess experience in laboratory tasks like preparing various solution types and culture media. You need to be capable of independently managing your tasks, being well-organized, paying close attention to details, and consistently documenting your work, adhering to and revising established safety procedures (SOP) and work instructions, along with conducting and documenting risk analyses related to, for instance, chemical handling. You should possess strong interpersonal skills and work effectively under guidance. Proficient oral and written communication abilities in English are necessary.
Other desirable qualifications
Demonstrated experience in a restaurant or bakery kitchen or in a dynamic scientific lab is beneficial. Ideally, you are a focused person dedicated to finishing tasks and reaching objectives. You feel a sense of pride in your accomplishments.
