Educational offer

Courses and workshops

Swedish courses are available at beginner and advanced level. The beginner courses are general courses for those with no or very limited prior knowledge. At the advanced level, there is both a general course and short courses with specific focuses, for example on improving pronunciation, grammar and writing formal Swedish.

In English, there are workshops and short courses with specific specialisations, such as English for staff working in HR, communications and education administration. For teaching and research staff, courses include popular science writing in English. The Language Programme also organises workshops on specific topics, such as processing and editing AI-translated texts and English pronunciation.

Other language support activities

Language cafés

For staff who want to practise their Swedish in a relaxed setting, the language programme organises various activities within our language café activities. Examples of activities include coffée with games, lunchtime poetry, book discussions and museum visits.

Organisational support

In addition to skills development for staff, the language programme will develop competence and structures to support heads of departments and units in managing in multilingual environments. Examples of the types of support that the language programme will develop in collaboration with heads of department are:

  • Methodological and knowledge support in establishing long-term competence development plans for some staff, with gradual and sustainable introduction of new tasks as the employee's level of Swedish progresses.
  • Methodological support for workplace meetings in multilingual environments.
  • Training for staff appointed as language supporters in the department or unit.

In collaboration with the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science, the language programme will develop a model of language support working methods specifically adapted for higher education institutions as a workplace.
