2024
Workshop on applying for funding - in November 2024 a workshop on applying for funding as a PhD student and in an academic career was organized. Erika Sörensson from the Research Support and Collaboration Office gave a much appriciated lecture especially focusing on the perspective of PhD students. After lunch, senior members from the departments joined to talk about funding within the different research areas and answered questions. The workshop was concluded with a "one-page proposal" exercised where the students starting writing a research proposal as an exercised provided by Erika.
Midsummer games - in June 2024 the first annual USBE midsummer games was organized. The departments faced off in a series of mini-games, including a walking quiz across the departments and "rundpingis". The event concluded with the traditional game of "Kubb" where the Statistics department emerged as winners.
2023
Ammarnäs II - in the spring of 2023, the second workshop in Ammarnäs was organised with the theme "interdisciplinary research" where PhD students and postdocs from Business Administration, Economics and Statistics were guided by Filip Edström in an exercise with the goal of developing research projects that cross disciplinary boundaries.
2022
Ammarnäs – in the spring of 2022, a workshop was organized to the research station in Ammarnäs where doctoral students from business administration, economics and statistics were able to present their research, exchange feedback and socialize in a snow-covered winter landscape.
Workshop on Stress Management – during the spring of 2022, a workshop for doctoral students and post-docs on stress management was arranged, where Feelgood offered useful information and concrete tools for managing emotions and experiences related to stress.
Workshop on Oral Presentations – during the autumn semester of 2022, a full day workshop on verbal and non-verbal communication and presentation techniques was organized for the PhD students of USBE. Anders Bek from the Department of Applied Educational Science hosted the workshop and provided actionable advice through practical exercises supported by lecture. Twenty PhD students from all departments at USBE attended the workshop.
