Both theoretical and applied research in statistics is conducted by our faculty members. We offer a wide range of courses in statistics within different educational programs at the social science faculty. In total, we offer over 4000 hours of undergraduate courses per academic year.
The department is, moreover, giving Programs in Statistics and Data Science on both Bachelor and Master level, whose students get a thorough ground in statistical modeling and data analysis.
Graduate education is an essential component of our research activities. The research conducted at the department is varied and has for vocation to be grounded on applications in the social and medical sciences. Research projects are often conducted in collaboration with researchers from other scientific fields, both at a national and international level.
