Life at UMA
Umeå School of Architecture is located in our own building at Umeå Arts Campus with a view of the Ume River. Our neighbours are Umeå School of Design (UiD), Umeå Academy of Fine Arts and Bildmuseet – Museum of Contemporary Arts. Our facilities are fully equipped with a wood workshop, 3D-printers, laser-cutters, large-format printers, a computer lab and much more! At UMA, you'll experience an atmosphere of openness, inclusion and collectivity were other students, technicians, administrators, teachers and researchers usually are close-by.
KEY FACTS
- All students at UMA has their own desk, situated within' their year/design studio
- Both the Architecture programme and The Master's Programme in Architecture are taught in English. The teaching staff is highly international and consists of people from more than ten different countries
- Student representation in committes and student activities are organized in Umeå Student Union of Science and Technology's Design Section.
- Umeå School of Architecture is characterized by an open, inviting and collective spirit that is actively nurtured through the openness of the building, the structure of the education and recurring joint activities like workshops, public events and not the least; a yearly occuring ping pong tournament
- Our educational programmes are 1:1-tutorial intensive and teachers, researchers, administrators and technicians are usually present in the facilities and easy to reach
