About UMA
Umeå School of Architecture at Umeå University has an artistic profile and an international character, with employees and students from all over the world. At the same time, we place great emphasis on anchoring our education and research in local and regional conditions.
The subject of architecture is multidisciplinary and revolves around the design of living environments – buildings, urban spaces, residential areas and landscapes. It includes the artistic and natural science fields, but it is also intertwined with social science subjects, for example when seeking solutions to challenges such as climate change and social inequality.
Umeå School of Architecture at Umeå University was established in 2009. Around 300 students and around 40 employees study and work at the school, which is located in its own building at Umeå Arts Campus, with Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, Umeå Institute of Design and the museum of contemporary arts, Bildmuseet, as neighbours.
