Degree Project 2022

The project has investigated how to reshape the long road trip experience in a more playful and enjoyable way. The initial cue is the popularity of the glamping lifestyle in China. The opportunity of creating a new interior experience for Chinese youth served as inspiration for this project. With this project, the author aimed to create an immersive experience for the long road trip interior; showing how to create a new interior layout that is equal for all passengers, sustainable and easy for production and maintenance.

The process is a product design workflow. Throughout the whole research part, the author used in-depth interview, questionnaire brainstorming, mapping requirements and profound personal experience, building credible user scenarios and functionalities. The creative development process includes analogue and digital sketching, Maya modelling and 3D ergonomic testing.

The final result is a Jeep shared ATV interior. A brand new interior layout provides two different road trip experiences; Explore and Enjoy. The front part is a playful cockpit and the rear part is a glamping style cabin. Combining inflatable TPU mattress, wireless steering wheel, VR controlled Drone, portable freezer and multi-purpose shovel.

It has been designed with a sustainable mindset regarding the widely used eco-friendly material as well as low complexity in terms of the tube-shaped interior frame and lightweight structures.
