Fractured memories

Interaction Concept (IxD2) 2024

In the year 2055, the world thrives on technological advancements but crumbles under the weight of relentless stress. The global government, desperate to address this crisis, enforces laws to curb emotional burdens from the past. Tech giants like Google take the lead, introducing controversial AI systems to manipulate and erase photos tied to negative emotions. In this future, even memories have an expiration date. Google’s AI blurs, distorts, and deletes emotionally charged images, seamlessly rewriting personal histories. Users either pay to preserve cherished moments or risk losing them forever. But the system is flawed. Hacks like clickfarms and emotional prompts emerge, yet none fully protect memories from vanishing into digital oblivion. This speculative exhibition provokes critical thought: What happens when technology dictates what we remember? Is it better to forget pain or embrace the full spectrum of human experience? In a world that promises stress-free living at the cost of our past, the act of remembering becomes rebellion. Step into 2055—a world where your most precious moments are no longer immortal but fleeting, where even your memories are at risk of deletion. Will you fight to keep them alive?
