Introducing Jabra Auris (Auris = latin for ear).
Jabra Auris
Instead of seeing a physician in person, virtual health rooms or home visits facilitated by nursing assistants provide new ways of bringing people closer to healthcare. Based on these insights, I set my scope to designing a diagnostic device that would be used in this medical context of sparsely populated regions in Scandinavia. The expertise and help provided by eHear, a research group of Umeå University led me to focus on ear examinations. The result is Jabra Auris, a video otoscope that would be part of a larger product family of diagnostic devices designed for telemedicine. Auris could be developed based on components and an operating system previously used in smartwatches. Seamlessly connecting to mobile or desktop devices, ear exams could be performed remotely increasing access to specialist care in remote communities.
