Symbiosis

Hot Team (BFA2/BFA3) 2024

The project addresses the question, "How can we create greener cities?" by developing a board game – Symbiosis: The Green City Building Game – where players collect resources and place buildings that interact with the environment. This design encourages players to consider how cities and society could better harmonise with nature, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable urban development. This project was part of the Hot Team course focusing on integrating nature as an active participant in the design process. The aim was to shift perspectives and address environmental and social sustainability by involving "nature players" in participatory design. Teams selected specific struggles, engaged in hands-on prototyping, and developed frameworks for inclusive decision-making. The project included coaching sessions, sharing sessions, weekly reflections, and a final exhibition to communicate the identified struggles and design solutions.
