When reading Gender Studies in Umeå, the main focus for your studies are on the power relationships between men and women. You also study how various dimensions of power in society such as gender, class, sexuality and ethnicity are interwoven. During the courses you will meet teachers from various disciplines and discuss gender issues from different perspectives.
Knowledge about gender issues is popular in many areas of employment today, such as in schools, media, public and private management. Consequently, we try to develop the students' ability to view texts and activities from a critical gender perspective.
