Room to Rhyme

Room to Rhyme is an exhibition by the students in the first year of the Master’s Programme at Umeå Art Academy. 

Through installation, painting, textiles, sculpture, image-based work and performance, the artworks are given space to resonate – and leave a distinct mark in the space. A rhyme suggests a repeating pattern which recognizes a similar or stressed structure to create emphasis.  At its root, it is a device to support a series or sequence and to facilitate memorization.  Here, it is an impression only, for each artists suits their own purpose, rifting on their pursuits in the works of art. 

Accompanying the exhibition is a limited-edition artist publication, that sequences the drawings and writings of each artist, creating a rhythmic drift within and beyond the exhibition space.
