Welcome to the Umeå Infection Symposium 2023!

We cordially invite you to attend the Umeå Infection Symposium on 30 August 2023. Get inspired by renowned international keynote speakers as well as novel research approaches and directions at Umeå University.

The symposium is aimed for all scientists and staff members interested in microbial and infection research. The event is jointly organized by Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden, MIMS, and Umeå Microbial Research Centre, UCMR

Overview

The scientific symposium takes place on Wednesday 30 August, 9:00-13:00, followed by a lunch that gives all participants the opportunity to mingle and continue the scientific discussions. The venue for the symposium is Rotundan at Umeå University. Find Rotundan.

Confirmed keynote speakers

Carmen Buchrieser, Institute Pasteur

Carmen Buchrieser is an Austrian molecular biologist, focusing on pathogenic bacteria such as Listeria, Yersinia and Legionella. She is head of the Biology of Intracellur Bacteria Unit at Institut Pasteur in France.

Päivi Ojala, University of Helsinki

Päivi Ojala is Professor in Cancer Cell Biology and group leader in the Translational Cancer Medicine Research Programme at the University of Helsinki in Finland. Her research interest lies in cancer cell biology, viral tumorigenesis and tumor microenvironment.
