Campus: There are two campuses - one in Vellore and one in Chennai, both are located in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Student life: The university offers several sports activities, for example: badminton, basketball, handball, hockey, tennis and volleyball. There are also several student clubs to engage in. VIT organises annual carnivals - Riviera (International Sports and Cultural Carnival), and Gravitas (Technological and Design Carnival).

About Vellore

Vellore has about 185,000 citizens and is located by the Palar River in the state of Tamil Nadu. Including suburbs, the number of inhabitants is 423,000. Vellore Fort, a large 16th-century fort, is located in the city centre and is known for its grand ramparts, wide moat and robust masonry. The fort houses a church, mosque, hindu temple and a museum that exhibits objects of art, weapons, sculptures, bronzes, wood carvings and handicrafts.

About 8 kilometres from Vellore is the Golden Temple Complex - The exterior is laid with gold sheets and plates, 1,500 kilograms of pure gold was used.
