My research interests primarily focus on texts, reading, and reading comprehension within mathematics, often referred to as disciplinary literacy. My dissertation explored how mathematical symbols and ordinary language are integrated in textbooks aimed at students of various ages. Specifically, I examined the progression of text structures where these two semiotic systems intersect. I also investigated how different approaches to structuring the text influenced the reading process and its overall readability. In my studies, I actively utilise eye-tracking technology and am particularly interested in developing more qualitative analyses of eye movement data to complement the quantitative ones. In a broader sense, my research interests also encompass personalised instruction.
