Associate Professor and senior consultant in paediatrics
Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences
I am an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Pediatrics, as well as a Consultant in Pediatric Medicine specializing in Gastroenterology and Nutrition. My research focuses on three main areas. The first concerns child nutrition, particularly the dietary factors that support optimal growth and development during the transition from breastfeeding to complementary foods. The second area is diabetes epidemiology, where I investigates trends in the incidence of type 1 diabetes in children over time, the impact of socioeconomic factors, the effects on families, and the role of technological aids in disease management. The third research area examines child nutrition from a global perspective, where I am currently focused on chronic undernutrition, particularly stunting, in Rwanda.
