Senior Professor Torbjörn Bergman's research is focused on the struggle for government power and the question of democracy at two interconnected levels, Sweden and the EU. Together with leading researchers, Bergman has also created a data archive which, among other things, contains information on all democratic governments in European parliamentary democracies since the Second World War. There is unique data in this archive that cannot be found anywhere else. Until 2025, based on this research, he runs the infrastructure project REPDEM, which in turn is part of DEMSCORE, a national initiative for data collection data on democracy, politics and conflict.
