As a research engineeer, I supply technical assistance to researchers, doctoral students, and undergraduate students within ALS Research Umeå. At the Section of Pathology, we study tissue samples and perform histopathological analyses of brain and spinal cord. We have a close collaboration with our collegues in the Sections of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Neurosciences, who also study amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
In addition, I contribute to ALS research communication, in part by managing the pages on the university website UMU.se belonging to ALS Research Umeå and the associated research groups. Currently, I am also web manager in the Department of Medical Biosciences.
I have a background in biomedicin, and in 2010 I defended a doctoral thesis in molecular biology at the Faculty of Science and Technology. Following journalism studies, I worked as a page editor at the Swedish daily newspapers Dagens Nyheter and Dagens Industri for more than a decade, before returning to Umeå University and joining the ALS research team.
