I am a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Umeå University in Sweden. I am a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
My research focuses on emotions and interpersonal relationships in sport, exercise, and health. I've conducted research and consultancy work with a wide range of populations including professional athletes and coaches, the military, chronic pain patients, and performing artists. I've also worked with the British National Health Service as well as crime reduction charities to develop health promotion initiatives that use physical activity to enhance the health of communities and individuals.
I'm originally from Canada where I conducted sport and exercise psychology consulting and worked with young offenders as well as indigenous communities to develop social and leadership skills through physical activity. Predominantly I consult with junior and elite athletes and coaches, as well as professional organisations in sport and business. I use a holistic approach to my psychophysiological research and consultancy that focuses on the health and wellness of individuals to optimize performance and interpersonal relationships.
