I am a PhD student in the Sun Nyunt Wai group. My research focuses on understanding the role of outer membrane vesicle-associated proteases in bacterial pathogenesis.
Previously, I completed my master’s studies in Biomedicine at Skövde University, Sweden. I pursued my master's thesis project at cancer center, Karolinska Institute Stockholm, where I worked on understanding the role of mitochondrial proteins involved in the regulation of mitochondrial dynamics. Due to my strong interest in the field of microbiology, I began my PhD at Sun's group where I started working on understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the cell association and uptake of bacterial outer membrane vesicles (BMVs). Moreover, my long-term aim is to investigate the effect of BMV-associated proteases, and their role in the regulation of mammalian cell mitochondrial dynamics.
In addition to my research pursuits, I have worked as a teacher at various academic’s institutes in Pakistan. I have studied special needs education course at Malmö university, which has equipped me for roles as an educator.
During my leisure time, I am engaged in activities such as interior decor, crafting, and dress designing.
