Hello, my name is Oscar Björk and I'm a designer born and raised in Örnsköldsvik. Already in high school, I heard about Umeå Institute of Design and started my path towards the design field through studies at ABF art school in Umeå. After that, I was fortunate enough to be accepted into both the Bachelor's programme in Industrial Design and later the Master's programme in Advanced Product Design, where I got the foundation for how I view industrial design. After graduation, I worked for several years at the consulting firm Strukturdesign in Umeå, where I learned about the reality of the industry and the work as a designer. But after several years in the industry, I got the opportunity to return to Umeå Institute of Design to teach visualization and animation, which was incredibly fun and rewarding. After several years at the school, I'm now part of the leadership and am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of the fantastic community we have at Umeå Institute of Design.
I am an experienced teacher and course responsible for courses in the field of design.
As a teacher, I work with Bachelor's and Master-level courses covering a range of topics such as sketching, digital visualization, 3D modeling, design process, artistic process, and project tutoring. I am passionate about working with students and sharing my knowledge and skills with them, which I believe is the most rewarding aspect of my job.
I believe that teaching is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about inspiring students to be curious and creative in their learning journey. I strive to create an engaging and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to take risks, experiment with new ideas and express themselves artistically.
