My research primarily focuses on rheumatoid arthritis, aiming to investigate various aspects of the disease's early development and its consequences, such as joint damage. By using blood samples collected before symptom onset, we have analysed both protein markers and auto-antibodies and found that several of these deviate in yet symptom free individuals compared to control-individuals from the population. Furthermore, some of these antibodies are also associated with an increased risk of joint damage. In addition to this, we are also working on mapping hereditary factors linked to rheumatoid arthritis.
