I have a project called Royal Road to Calculus about how school mathematics has developed, with focus on 1880-1920.
My main research interests have to do with mathematics. I have worked at the university level, developing inovative videos to teach metacognitive skills. I have also developed a research program on mathematical beauty. I spent 4 years working at Curiosum science center, creating hands-on activities and a research seminar geared at getting kids interested in science. Currently I am working on a popular article about the origins of school mathematics. This is a follow-up project for my paper on the history of compactness.
I teach mathematics to pre-service teachers, now focussing on K-3 level.
