Molecular Geochemistry. Experimental and theoretical studies of Earth's crust and atmosphere, and outer space. My webpage: http://moleculargeo.chem.umu.se/boily/
Reactions on minerals have shaped Earth's ever-changing environments and atmospheres over geological time. They not only sustain life on Earth, but may even have played an important role in the origins of life!
Our research activities are largely focused on geochemical reactions on mineral surfaces. Our work connects scales of molecules, single mineral particles, to single crystals. Examples of interest include thin water and ice films, ice nucleation and growth, interfacial electrochemistry. Our way of working is interdisciplinary and we mix routinely experiment with theory.
I teach the Introductory course in chemistry (Kemi Baskurs I in Swedish) and Aquatic Chemistry (English)
