I obtained a master degree in Molecular Biology at Umeå University, Sweden. During my master thesis, I focused on the analysis of bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) for targeted cancer therapy.
After completing my master degree, I continued to pursue my passion for research by doing a PhD in Medical Sciences with orientation towards Molecular Biology. In my PhD research, I investigated how bacteria modulate host cell signalling pathways (cellular responses such as apoptosis, autophagy, epigenetic modulation and PIP5K1α/Akt lipid signalling) through the release of bacterial factors, some associated with OMVs. Knowledge of the cellular mechanisms (especially in cancer cells) targeted by these secreted bacterial factors obtained from my PhD research might have important medical applications, especially in area of developing new potential effective anticancer therapeutic agents.
I am currently working as a Senior Research Assistant in Sun Nyunt Wai lab. My research focuses on molecular mechanisms of bacteria-host interactions.
During my free time, I love to watch and play football, going out for walks and reading articles.
