After completing my bachelor’s in health biology in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid, Spain), I pursued a Masters in Biomolecular Sciences in Vrije Universiteit (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) where I specialized in Molecular Bioinformatics. Since 2020, I am pursuing my PhD in Andrea Puhar lab at Umeå University in Sweden.
My research focuses on the study of extracellular ATP (eATP) as a Danger Associated Molecular Pattern. Using a combination of biochemical, genetic and cell biology approaches, I aim to discover the mechanisms by which intestinal commensals and pathogens such as Escherichia coli or Shigella flexneri regulate the concentration of eATP in the gut. The results may improve our understanding of gut inflammation and infection dynamics.
