Professor of social work and director of Umeå Center for Evaluation Research (UCER)
I have a BSc in social work, I received my PhD in social work in 1998 and became a professor of social work at Umeå University in 2008. I was affiliated as a professor at Shandong University in China in 2018. Since 2020, I have been affiliated with R&D Västernorrland. Since 2021, I am the director of Umeå Center for Evaluation Research (UCER).
My overall research interests are:
- Welfare organisations’ organising, cooperation and client work
- Welfare professionals’ use of knowledge and professional practice
- Evaluation, follow-up and audit in social work
- Elderly care (digitalization, participation)
- Theory development in social work (CAIMeR theory, Domain theory, Stigma theory)
I am active in several research collaborations nationally and internationally. In addition, I often collaborate with various actors outside the academy,
for example, government authorities, municipal social services and private treatment organisations.
I teach and supervise mainly at advanced level and within postgraduate education. My teaching is primarily focused on evaluation, professional practice and research design.
