I am a post-doctoral fellow of history education at Umeå University. My main research interests are in the political and ideological dimensions of history didactics (i.e. teaching and learning history). As such, my research focus on the conflicts and controversies that competing views on history or history education give rise to in classroom settings and public debate. In a broader sense, my work also concerns the relationship between history, citizenship education and identity formation. Theoretically, I make use of pragmatist educational philosophy and political discourse theory. I am currently conducting a post-doc project that aims to develop teaching principles for a history education that approach 'People's history' from below. As a scholar, I am member of the research group History and Education at Umeå University and the research environment ESERGO (Environmental and Sustainability Education Research Group Örebro) at Örebro University.
I am a licensed upper secondary school teacher in history and civics with more than ten years of experience in teaching courses in the teacher education programmes. In particularly, I have taught courses on didactics, history of education, curriculum theory and philosophy of science.
