Understanding Discourses of Victimisation in the Age of Deep Mediatisation
Research project
In what ways can digital media such as Twitter, Facebook or true crime podcasts transform how victimization is collectively understood?
Digital media platforms play an increasingly important role in how we collectively understand and interpret discourses about victimisation in society today. The project aims to map and analyse discussions about victimisation under the contemporary social conditions of deep mediatisation, using data from Twitter and Facebook in relation to the alt-right and #metoo movement, after terrorist attacks and in criminal representations in true crime podcasts.
