The Swedish Business Federations and Economic Policy-making 1921-1933. Integration, Confrontation or Cooperation?

Research project The project elucidates the actions and participation of the business associations within economic policy-making during the period 1921-1933 with a specific focus on The Swedish Federation of Industries and The General Export Association of Sweden.

In this regard, the project focuses on how these associations tried to influence decisions and decision-makers within economic policy. Their participation in a number of decision-making processes regarding monetary policy, tax policy and State ownership will also be investigated. The overall aim of these empirical studies is then to identify what opportunities the government gave the business associations to influence the decision-making within economic policy and, in turn, how these opportunities were exploited. Against this background, the project will cover a substantial gap in Swedish economic and political history writing.
